Apollo 11 crew preparation. Final preparations and spacesuit adjustments for the crew of the Apollo 11 mission on July 16th 1969. The crew for the first manned mission to land on the Moon consisted of Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Buzz Aldrin. The Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket was launched from pad 39a at Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA. Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon on July 20th and collected lunar material for return to Earth. Collins remained in lunar orbit in the command module. They returned to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24th.
